Micah J. Sturm
It was the early 1990s.
My driver’s education teacher didn’t go to church.
I was one worried student.
Why would a man ride in a car with unlicensed teenage drivers everyday unprepared to meet God?
When I asked my teacher to come to church with me, he said, “I’m not going to church! Too many hypocrites!”
I didn’t know what to say!
One day I asked him again—ready for his usual response—“I’m not going to church! Too many hypocrites!”
But this time I used a line I heard a preacher say once—“I’d rather go to church with a few hypocrites than to go to hell with all of them.”
My teacher smiled and was quiet that day.
I pray he never used that excuse again and went to church somewhere.
What’s your excuse?
